Sunday 29th JULY – OLD GIPPSTOWN RUN (MOE)
This club run is designed for Gippsland’s winter conditions so it’s planned around good driving and interesting roads and will not venture too far from the region.
The run will convene at Darnum’s “The Stump Tea Rooms” car park (down the road from the Darnum Pub) at 10:00am for a 10:30am departure.  There’s time for those who would like to indulge in a coffee or tea before we commence the run. Maps of the planned route will be available for all those participating. The route planned, providing good driving roads and excellent views for the passengers, will be a loop to the north of Darnum, crossing the Princes Hwy at Trafalgar and a loop to the south ending up at the “The Old Gippstown Heritage Park” in Moe,
Arrival at Old Gippstown is anticipated to be between 12 – 12:30 where light lunches will be available at very reasonable prices.
Arrangements are being made to allow entry for our cars to Old Gippstown. This should provide a great photo opportunity.
Contact Phil & Judy Barnard for further information: 5633 1291

SUNDAY 12th AUGUST – BREAKFAST CLUB – WARRAGUL CBD
Beginning at about 8am and running through to 9:30am (or more usually 10:30am) in the southern section of the Woolworth’s Supermarket car park opposite the Warragul News Agency.

THURSDAY 9th AUGUST – AUGUST MONTHLY MEETING at DAIZIES
This month we have asked Richard Wadsley to bring along his Jensen Healey as our display car.  About 10,000 of these 2-seater sports cars were built in England between 1972 and 1976. 92 were sold in Australia, the majority going to the USA and Canada. They were powered by a 16-valve, all alloy, 2-litre Lotus engine which gave the car a top speed of 120mph.
For our monthly meetings we have requested that soup course be served at 7:30 and Main Course no later than 8pm.Ray (our DAIZIES Host), has asked that any of our members who have special dietary requirements to please contact DAIZIES and let them know BEFORE the NIGHT of their needs – eg Vegetarian, Gluten Free etc. He is happy to accommodate our needs if members let them know early enough.
IF YOU WISH TO DINE – YOU MUST BOOK IN.
Please ring Doug and Di Armour on 5623 2163, or Philip and Jean Finger on 5625 2963 in the week prior to the meeting, to book in if you are intending to dine at Daizies.
You can also book by ringing DAIZIES direct on 5626 1261.

Sunday 26th AUGUST –
GARAGE / WORKSHOP VISIT TO NEIL JOINER’S SHED AT TRAFALGAR
This month, David Anderson has arranged for our club to visit the vehicle collection of Neil Joiner in Trafalgar. Neil and some of his mates have taken over the old T&M building at 74 Waterloo Rd, just opposite the Trafalgar Railway Station, on the northern side of the line.
Inside the massive building is Neil’s extensive collection of early model Holdens (from 1948 to 1966) as well as a 1925 Holden-bodied Chev, a ’37 Holden-bodied Buick, several other Chevys, a Jaguar and who knows what else! Our drive will take us toEarimilGardens, superbly located atMt.Elizaon theMorningtonPeninsula.
Elaine & Reg Smith are the ultimate sea/tree changers and have created a one-hectare garden of stunning beauty just 200 metres fromPort Phillip Bay.
Every cent of their garden charge is for charity, and so far they have raised more than $680,000. for Redkite, Very Special Children, and Challenge.  They also donate funds received from the sale of books (Mrs. Smiths – “My Labour of Love”) and from cards, plants and seeds.
Elaine Smith grew up on a dairy farm inSouth Gippsland, and has always had a love of flowers.  Her contributions to charity have earned her an OAM.  Reg Smith a retired toolmaker and engineer – whose company built the first catalytic converters inAustraliaas well as other car parts from a factory inCheltenham– is the handyman extraordinaire.
The garden is best known for its flowers, a riot of colour in the fountain garden, Japanese-style garden and around the pavilion, tennis court, birdhouse and red gravel driveway.    On arrival our group will have morning tea in the conservatory overlooking the garden, with plenty of time later to browse around the garden, before continuing on for more exploration of theMorningtonPeninsula.

  1. Hello Everybody – for quite some time I have been restoring a 500 race car called the AGD 500 initially built by Alan George Docking. The car now has a 650 Yamaha engine and was a regular competitor at your old track driven by john Brown – last time I was there I saw a picture of it on your clubroom wall. I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of it or history that I could record for the car? Thanks – John Hazelden
